Why did you want to work in a tattoo studio?
Lydia wanted to work in a tattoo studio for the mix of creativity and customer service. With a background in makeup, she’s always been drawn to art, especially where self-expression is at the centre of it. She also enjoys social media and sharing the studio’s work and how talented the artists are. Being part of a space where people leave with something meaningful really appealed to her, and she enjoys helping make the experience feel smooth and welcoming.
How many tattoos do you have?
36 tattoos with a few more already booked! (with Vivid Ink of course)
Have you ever wanted to become a tattoo artist yourself?
Lydia has definitely thought about it, but quickly realised her skills are better suited to makeup than putting anything permanent on someone! She’s always loved the art side of tattooing, but is much more at home keeping the studio running, supporting the artists, and making sure clients feel comfortable from the moment they walk in.
What do you love most about your job?
What she loves most is the atmosphere and being around creative people, seeing ideas turn into tattoos, and helping clients feel comfortable and excited rather than nervous — while also yapping all the customers heads off.
Describe your favorite experience with a customer.
One of her favourite experiences was a first-time client who came in really nervous and left wondering why they were ever worried in the first place. The client said she would definitely be back for more, and honestly that’s usually how it goes! Tattoos tend to be a bit addictive. Seeing that change in confidence is what she enjoys most about the job.
