The newest member of the Vivid Ink Coventry family, Sam joined us as an apprentice in July of 2024 and has since blown us all away with her talent and natural take to the craft. Always up to talk about anything, Sam prides herself on creating a fun and comforting experience for all and will instantly put a smile on your face when she walks in the room!
Sam’s hobbies include drawing, painting, reading, gaming and listening to True Crime creators!
Sam specialises in linework and etching/engraving styles, being heavily influenced by dark art and fantasy elements. Sam could do the most delicate linework piece one day followed by a full gothic etching piece the next making her a super versatile black and grey artist!

Sam Bakewell's Q & A
Before tattooing I worked in logistics as an import coordinator and later, an operations specialist, and I also worked in project management for a marketing firm.
I specialise in black and grey fineline, illustrative, feminine and dark art, but I also enjoy doing engraving and mediaeval style tattoos.
If my head isn’t stuck in a book or a game, I really like camping and exploring. So far the Scottish Highlands has been my furthest camping trip away!
There’s a lot of love, but my most favourite so far is people’s reaction when they see the finished tattoo in the mirror and they’re absolutely elated. It’s an awesome feeling!
I did a butterfly of hope for a young lady who was recovering from self harm, and the tattoo was designed to remind her during tough times to keep going. It was such a small tattoo but sentiments like those can be so impactful in someone’s life, and I was grateful I could contribute.
